Josh Cooper
Josh Cooper is a highly accomplished licensed architect with over 2 decades of experience in custom residential design. He is known for his thoughtful attention to detail and his dedication to creating homes that reflect the unique nature, aspirations and dreams of his clients.
Josh’s architectural journey began at a young age when he discovered his curiosity and joy of exploring the craft of creating - hand drawing, model building and eventually carpentry and woodworking became passions. These focuses ultimately led him to Auburn University’s College of Architecture, Design and Construction where he gained a deep appreciation for the art of architecture. During this time he also had the unique opportunity to attend Auburn’s Rural Studio under the guidance of the legendary Samuel Mockbee, where his love of art, craft and architecture became fully realized.
While embracing today's digital design tools, Josh continues to pursue his craft through the art of hand drawings. His hand-crafted architectural sketches and drawings are not only a beautiful method of conveying ideas, but also the way he connects more intimately to the process of design itself.
In founding JCC Design Studio in early 2001, Josh embarked on a creative journey of cultivating Chattanooga’s premier residential architecture firm. In 2015 Josh began broadening this vision by adding a dedicated interior design team, thus enabling JCC Design Studio - Architecture + Interiors to offer cohesive design talents that resonate with his clients on a deeply personal level. Whether he’s starting from a raw, natural site or transforming existing spaces through renovations and additions, Josh's goal is always the same: to craft spaces that are not just houses, but homes where memories are made and realized.
Beyond architecture, Josh is a devoted husband and a dedicated father to two beautiful daughters and of course a mostly tolerant sidekick for Baxter, as well. He has a love for the outdoors and can often be found on the river, on the trails or exploring the beauty of Chattanooga and beyond through photography.
